Cardiac Catherization

Cardiac catherization is a test used to evaluate heart and coronary arteries by injecting a special dye called contrast material into the coronary arteries. This dye, inserted by a thin, flexible tube called a catherer, is threaded through a blood vessel in the arm or groin and heart to trace blood movement in the arteries.

Echocardiography

Echocardiography is a type of ultrasound test that uses high-pitched sound waves to produce an image of the heart. Sound waves are sent through a device called a transducer, and reflected of the various structures of the heart.

Electrophysiology Services

An Electrophysiology study is a test that records the electrical activity and measures the electrical pathways of the heart. This test safely reproduces the patient's abnormal heart rhythm to determine the cause of heart rhythm disturbance. Then the patient is given different medications to see which is most effective for controlling heart beat rhythm.

Thallium/Nuclear (Sestamibi) Cardiac Scan Services

A Thallium or Technetium (sestamibi) scan is a test used to estimate the amount of blood reaching the heart muscle during rest and exercise. This test is primarily offered for people with unexplained chest pain or to determine the location and amount of injured heart muscle after a heart attack.

Peripheral Vascular Services

Peripheral vascular disease, also known as atherosclerosis, refers to blockages in arteries of the brain, kidneys and legs, and is a progressive disease process.

External Counter Pulsation (E.C.P.) Therapy

A growing trend in cardiology, this therapy is often used in China as an alternative to invasive surgery or even catheterization. In the U.S., it is FDA / Medicare approved for patients who will not or cannot have more invasive procedures.

Varicose Vein Treatment Using Laser Therapy

Endovascular Laser Therapy, a newer technology, helps remove Varicose Veins by heating the inside of the vein, which causes it to seal shut and disappear. This treatment requires that a very thin laser fiber be inserted into the damaged underlying vein. Executive Physicals

Healthworx is proud to offer Executive Physicals, including thorough examination, EKG, stress testing, chest X-ray, pulmonary function testing, labs (including PSA, Cardio-CRP, homocysteine and cholesterol), bone densitometry and total body imaging for evaluation of coronary artery disease, lung cancer and colon cancer.

Bone Density Scans

The Bone Density Scan uses electron beam tomography to measure bone density. This is called Quantitative Computed Tomography, or QCT, which is the GOLD Standard for bone densitometry. QCT is the most accurate method available, because unlike the other major method-DXA- it measures isolated trabecular bone, the first part of the bone to become affected by factors that decrease bone mass, and the first part to respond to treatment.

Heart Scans

A HealthwoRx Heart Scan detects plaque years, or decades, before stress testing or any other type of non-invasive technology. The sooner coronary artery disease is detected the greater chance it could be arrested or reversed, often by medication or by simple lifestyle changes. The key is early detection.

Electron Beam Tomography (EBT)

Electron Beam Tomography, or EBT is the technology used in the full body scan screening devices for the detection of health conditions such as cancer, disease, or abnormalities of the heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, colon and other organs in the body. Much faster than more traditional CT scans. EBT is also used to find early signs of coronary artery disease.

Mina Soffer, LMHC, is a licensed mental health specialist. She is also a recognized author and expert on mitral valve prolapse syndrome, and she serves as the National Institute for Cardiac Education board member and chairperson of the 2005 Angel Heart Fundraiser.
