How To Cure Your Insomnia

Do you suffer from insomnia? Has every night become a hell of sleeplessness from which you emerge drained and exhausted each morning? Here are a few simple rules which the latest studies in England have found to be almost infallible. A few simple measures should achieve spectacular results.

Here’s what to do:

  • Restrict your time in the bedroom. Don’t go into the bedroom to do anything other than sleep.
  • Spend no more than six hours in bed per night. You must be very disciplined about this. When the six hours are up you must get up, even if you feel tired. No lie-ins, and no dozing or lazing about. This is very important.
  • You must get up at the same time every day. So, if you need to get up at 8 a.m., you must get into bed at 2am. Similarly, if you get up at 6 a.m., you must go to bed at midnight. Whatever time you decide to get up it must be the same time each day, and you must go to bed six hours earlier.

It may seem very odd to restrict your hours of sleep and the length of time you stay in bed when you are exhausted from too little of both. However, after a very few nights of this new regime your sleep patterns will begin to change.

You will find yourself getting in larger chunks of more restful sleep, and within around two weeks you should be sleeping right through the full six hours. By the time this happens you should be experiencing increased vitality and be feeling less tired and stressed throughout the day. You will most likely be viewing sleep as your friend, and have begun to find your experience of sleep both enjoyable and comforting.

This is a hard regime to follow at the beginning, but perseverance and persistence will pay off. Once you have got your sleep patterns back to normal, and are feeling relaxed and comfortable at the thought of going to bed, then you can begin to relax the regime a little. If you find yourself slipping back into your old habit of sleeplessness, just go back to the six hours of sleep a night again, and in a short time you will be feeling much better.
