Another popular belief is that spending hours pounding a treadmill is an effective way to lose weight. In reality, strength training is generally more effective for trimming excess fat from the body. It's a fact that the body continues to burn calories long after a strength training session, so the benefits last long after you leave the gym.

Most people can reduce their intake of fat by cutting out certain foods, but the body needs a constant supply of fat to function properly.
